Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are ready to sanction the departure of their young defensive sensation Abdukodir Khusanov.
According to a report from Fichajes, Abdukodir Khusanov is all set to part ways with Manchester City just six months after joining them. Pep Guardiola’s team believe the Uzbek international could benefit from a loan spell away from the club.
Khusanov made a name for himself while playing for French club Lens. His consistent performances and massive potential had put him on the radar of multiple top clubs in Europe.
While there could have been a bidding war for his services in the summer, City were quick to react and they ended up signing the 21-year-old during the last winter window.
Guardiola was desperate for more quality and depth at the back and they ended up forking out €40 million to add the youngster to their squad. While he was straightaway handed his first-team debut by the Spanish manager, things didn’t go according to plan for him in his first outing.
City ready to send Khusanov out on loan
He has slowly gotten used to the demands at City but has only had limited opportunities because of the massive competition for places in the Manchester-based outfit. So far, the 21-year-old has only been involved in nine fixtures.
While he has been training with some of the best players in the world and under some top coaches, Khusanov needs regular first-team action to continue his development as a player. Since he has been on the bench for majority of their games, the club have decided to sanction a temporary departure.
They still view him as an important part of their long-term plans but want to ensure he gains regular game time to build rhythm and gain the experience needed before competing for a place in the City squad once again. Guardiola believes a move away is crucial for the player to adapt to the intensity and demands of top-level European football.
Multiple clubs from the Premier League and other top European leagues are already showing strong interest in signing him. They recognise his immense potential and talent and are eager to make him a key part of their project.
